What do you think are the best skills that you bring to your job?
I am an active, go-get-’em person who has played sports all her life, which allows me an in-depth understanding of how amazing our bodies are, but also how frustrating injuries can be. I am compassionate and caring and really enjoy getting people back to what they love. My experience working with acute and chronic sporting injuries, as well as managing my own, has equipped me with the knowledge to treat and manage these conditions.
Favourite Conditions to Treat:
Ankles and knees are my favourites, but I also love working with neck and back pain.
My personal experiences with ankle and knee ligamentous and tendon injuries have shown me the frustrations and fun aspects of rehabilitation programs.
Understanding how debilitating neck and back pain can be, makes this condition very important to me to treat well, and with empathy. I find it very rewarding when I can encourage and show my patients what they CAN do, not just what they cannot.
What are you happiest doing when you’re not working?
Anything outdoors! Surfing, snowboarding, hiking, running. Especially if I get to enjoy some delicious cuisine afterwards.
What would be your personal motto?
Have courage, be kind, and just have a go!
Who is someone you admire and why?
My parents. They immigrated from South Africa and set me up with a wonderful life in Australia. They are fit and healthy and have abilities well beyond their years. I aspire to be like my parents one day.
Your most-outstanding achievement:
Hiking the Overland Track in Tasmania last year – 8 days of hiking, carrying everything we need. We summited 5 different mountains over the 8 days, including Tasmania’s tallest (Mount Ossa)!
